Manifesting Career Success: How I Created My Dream Jobs (Yes, Really)
Have you ever had a moment where you thought, "This job doesn't exist yet, but I know it's meant for me?" I have. More than once, and they didn't just stay dreams. They became real.
If you're someone who's curious about manifestation but unsure how it connects to something as structured and practical as a career, I want to share my story. Because yes, you can manifest your dream job, even if it doesn’t exist yet.
The Unexpected Power of Reaching Out
Years ago, I casually sent a letter asking if I could work in a shop. I didn’t have a particular job in mind, and they didn’t have one listed, but I included my resume anyway. A few days later, I received a surprising response. Not only were they interested (they saw that my interest in event planning could be valuable), but they actually created a job for me to run events for them.
There wasn’t a job posting. There wasn’t even a clear need until I showed up. However there was alignment, and the willingness to follow a nudge that felt right. That’s manifestation in motion.
When the Job Description Changes for You
Another time, I saw a corporate role that, on paper, was multiple levels too high in my current company. Conventional wisdom would have said I had no chance. Something about it felt aligned, so I spoke to the hiring manager.
As part of a college exercise years earlier, I had created a fake resume for a dream job, and oddly enough, it aligned with the very role I was looking at. When I spoke to the hiring manager, they were open enough to see the fit and changed the job description to match my actual level and background. I didn’t have to fake anything. I just had to show up as the version of me who believed it was possible.
The Key: Follow the Next Right Step
People often think manifestation is about controlling the outcome, or every little detail. In my experience, it's more about clarity and courage.
I didn’t know the full plan in either scenario. I just knew the next right step:
- Send the email.
- Apply anyway.
- Speak from alignment, not fear.
It wasn't about planning twenty steps ahead. It was about trusting the step in front of me. That’s what I want to encourage you to do.
There Are No Limits (Except the Ones in Our Minds)
One of the biggest mindset shifts for me was realizing that just because something hasn’t happened before doesn’t mean it can’t. Just because a role doesn’t exist yet, or you don’t meet every bullet point on a job description, doesn’t mean the door is closed.
When we let go of needing to "qualify" or have everything figured out, we make room for the universe to meet us halfway. That’s where the magic happens.
Tips for Manifesting Career Opportunities
If you’re ready to invite more alignment, ease, and yes—a bit of magic—into your career, try this:
1. Get clear on how you want to feel
Don't start with a title, start with the energy. Do you want freedom? Creativity? Impact?
2. Take inspired action
Even if the path doesn’t exist yet, move forward. Reach out, apply, create.
3. Stay open
The job might not look exactly like you imagined. It might be even better.
4. Trust the timing
Sometimes things move fast. Sometimes they need a little incubation. Trust.
5. Let go of the "how"
You don’t need to know all the steps. You just need to take the next one, and then let go of any expectations.
Dream Bigger Than the Job Board
If there's anything I've learned, it's this: your career path doesn’t have to follow a traditional script. You can co-create opportunities. You can magnetize experiences that are custom made for who you are, and what you're here to do.
Don’t be afraid to dream, and when you receive that intuitive nudge, don’t overanalyze it. Follow it. It might just lead you to your dream job, even if it doesn’t exist yet.
If you’re navigating your own career pivot or want to learn how to bring more intuition into your professional path, I offer coaching for people just like you. Reach out via email (laurie@goldenpath.me), and let’s find out what’s possible.
